Egg / Embryo Donation and using Sperm bank
|
If a couple is unable to have a child because husband can't produce sperms or wife can't produce eggs, we have two options - either they go for adoption or they can go for egg donation/ egg sharing or use of sperm bank if no sperms can be retrieved surgically.

Egg donation/sharing
We have a programme for egg donation for women with premature ovarian failure, surgical or induced menopause and those in the perimenopausal group. Some women with repeated poor recruitment of follicles at the time of I. V. F., women with extensive endometiosis, severe pelvic adhesions and inaccessible ovaries may also require egg donation. We assist the process of egg donation with counselling and support within legal framework.
Prospective egg donor should be: healthy young (less than 30 years old), educated and preferably have proven fertility (by having had at least one live baby). Women who have had a tubal ligation (family planning operation) are also eligible. We test the donor to make sure that She is negative for HIV, hepatitis and Syphilis. She will need to take daily injections for about 10 days; and will need to come for ultrasound scans to the clinic about 4-5 times. Donating eggs will not harm her future fertility and health. |

Donor Insemination Programme - Semen Cryopreservation and Banking
Our sperm bank uses donor semen, which has undergone stringent evaluation. The donors are tested for HIV, Hepatitis, VDRL and Gonorrhea. We follow the W.H.O. criteria to ensure semen quality. The Cryopreservation Donor Semen Programme is in accordance with the guidelines established by the British Fertility Society. We routinely have a back-up semen sample frozen for couples who are undergoing treatment in case of inability to give a sample on the day of the IUI, IVF or ICSI. The men who are undergoing orchidectomy and cancer treatment before they have radiation and chemotherapy can also use our cryo preservation facilities. We routinely cryopreserve testicular and epididymal sperm, so that repeated attempts at obtaining fresh epididymal and testicular sperm are avoided.
